Sadly, it is often the students who can benefit most from higher education who struggle the most. The sad fact is, low income students are significantly less likely to graduate from college as their wealthier counterparts. What&rsquo s even more discouraging is that intelligence and achievement don&rsquo t seem to help. A poor student with high SAT scores is less likely to finish college than a student with lower scores who happens to be in a higher income bracket.
Hi Liz,thank you so much for your wonderful advice and video lessons. Must I give an example to back my point in the two body paragraphs of the academic writing task7? Should I give examples only when it is feasible?
Yes, you would need to have one BP for the advantages of one method and then another body paragraph for the advantages of the other method. Your opinion would either be explained in a separate body paragraph if you agree with neither side or you can explain your opinion in the BP with the side you agree with.
All the best
I did my speaking test today, it went well, your model question of country side was asked, I did very well based on your teachings and input given by you, for which I am greatful to you. your teaching was so useful and its free. May God bless you for all the good work that are doing. LRW exam on Saturday and preparing for that based on all your teaching. Thank you once again. Regards, Samuel Raj
You need to choose three (for example books, TV and radio). Then you put the advantages of each in one body paragraph and the disadvantages of each in the second body paragraph. Plan your advantages and disadvantages of each, choose the best ones to use (you might not be able to use all of them in the time limit provided) and write your body paragraphs carefully.
Today we are surrounded by all kinds of advertising and this has an increasing influence on our lives. Do the positive effects of advertising outweigh its negative effects?
Hello there Liz, I think this is a discussion essay so my question is, can I freely give my opinion on what side I am for as a conclusion even though it wasn 8767 t asked? Thank you. =)
I took the ielts recently, and i forgot to paragraph the essay, and i only got a 7. Im repeating it now. Do you think that paragraphing alone will raise that 7 to a or an 8?
I have a had used traditional and religous festival in UK to clarify your points
In UK primary schools, children learn in detail about the religious reasons for celebrating Christmas, Easter and a variety of festivals in other religions.
The attention economy means that no matter what a technology company aims to create – an informative news site like the New York Times, a meditation app to help people meditate, a social network, or an addictive game – they win by getting people to spend time. What starts as an honest competition to make useful things that people spend time on , devolves into a race to the bottom of the brain stem to maximize the time we spend.
I need essay, topic is today most leader are compare to past.
It has positive for development or negative for development...
Got my results today. The overall score is , with individual scores as follows:
L=, R=, W=, S=
The scores are not up to my expectations. As pointed out earlier my speaking task was a disaster, so a score of in speaking task is as expected. But the reading and listening scores are not matching my expectations, it 8767 s far below than what I had been expecting( esp. the score in the listening task).
Is there anything I could do now? Should I opt for re-evaluation?
To go from overall band 6 to overall band 7, you need better English. Spend time checking the accuracy of language you already know and then building on it. Always aim for accuracy to get more than band 6. Then review key IELTS exam skills most are mentioned on the pages of my blog.
On the one hand, religious and traditional festivals have certainly become times for celebration. In the UK, Christmas is a good example of a festival period when people are most concerned with shopping, giving and receiving presents, decorating their homes and enjoying traditional meals with their families. Most people look forward to Christmas as a holiday period, rather than a time to practise religion. Similar behaviour can be seen during non-religious festivals, such as Bonfire Night. People associate this occasion with making fires, watching firework displays, and perhaps going to large events in local parks in other words, enjoyment is people’s primary goal.
